Well, where to begin with this one. Temperature gauge is an outlandish £350 to put right because of a blown circuit board.
Speedo, £400, new head.
Door membranes £275.
Electric windows clicked badly, £300.
Powersteering went £200.
All in all, a very very expensive experience owning a Laguna. Maybe I just had a bad apple, but I am never buying a Renault again.
However, performance was quite good, hit the limiter in top at 6,500 doing 130mph reguarly and easily.
Handles OK, but either oversteers massively or understeers unexpectedly. You have been warned.
Anyone caning a Laguna to "hit the limiter in top at 6,500 doing 130mph regularly and easily" doesn't deserve to have a reliable car. If you won't drive more sensibly for the sake of the car, then do so for the sake of those you might kill. The Laguna is a family hatchback for goodness sakes, and the roads in UK and Ireland have a 70mph top limit.
I bought a Laguna, same model and with the same millage. Exaclty, and I mean exactly the same things went wrong with mine. Very expensive to own a "bad" one of these and I am not buying Renault again! Oh, and two months ago I had an oil-leak I thought was going to cost about a hundred to sort out. Ended up costing 800 GBP as the gearbox had to come out. Joke I just don't find funny. The car does pull strongly in all gears though, and will easily hit the 6,500rpm limiter in top gear (at 130mph). However, if the top gear was longer, I think it would pull to 140mph.
