2002 Renault Laguna Dynamique Sport Tourer from UK and Ireland - Comments

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Car revved up to 3k on its own, took the dealer 3 attempts to resolve. Finally replaced throttle housing.

Rear heated screen fuse blew 8 times, dealer replaced complete wiring loom only to find the fault was with the rear screen. This has been replaced and so far so good, but have not had to use it for a while.

Due to wiring loom being replaced, e.g. took apart most of the car, now have a number of rattles and squeaks which were not there before.

Although car has ISOFIX fixings unable to fit ISOFIX child seat without cutting seat. Renault don't appear to think this is a design fault even though it is the only car where you have to take this action. Even a local dealer could not believe this was the case. So be warned if you are thinking about buying a Laguna II as it is still a design fault with the car, I have checked 2003 model.

General comments?

I have called Renault Customer Service regarding the ISOFIX problem, they have been very helpful and understanding, but have no solutions. Unable to speak to a manager or anyone else in Renault UK to pursue the issue as I do not think they want to be put on the spot and admit it is a design fault. I personally think they are trying to avoid a recall.

Not sure if this is the right thing to do, but anyone out there which has had similar problems, especially with the ISOFIX fixings please do what I have done and write to Watchdog. Hopefully enough people will write for them to investigate, would be nice to put Renault on the spot.

I have also had problems regarding "design" of air condition system. Finally ditched the car and got a Honda accord instead. I have also contacted watchdog, but with no response.

We need more people to complain to push a result.

ISOFIX problem

Yes, I have a Laguna ST 2003 with the same problem.

What solutions have the dealers come up with?

My local dealer has suggested to mod. the rear seats, but, but to who's expense?

This is the question still to be resolved.

I will also write to Watchdog about the issue.

Please let me know if you get it sorted with Renault UK.

I too have had a few problems with Renault UK and France. I bought an ISO FIX base for a Renault seat (in France as it was 30GBP cheaper than in the UK) only to find that you have to cut the seats to fit the seat!! I have yet to investigate this through Renault UK on my return to the UK, but would expect Renault to fork out for the cost of the professional fitting - surely they wouldn't want to compromise the safety of a child given their constant preoccupation with EURO NC AP ratings?? If anyone has any news, let me know. mstone001@hotmail.com.

We have the same problem regarding the ISOFIX anchor.. They label the seat with ISOFIX tag but the ring where you attach the ISOFIX guides and the car seat base is not visible at all. I have contacted Renault Customer Service UK they advised me to go to the nearest Renault Minute) which was the West London branch) and they should be able to show you where the attachment is and how to fit it. When we went there the technician's got no Idea about ISOFIX.. saying you should go to the car seat maker, or Halfords.. Arghhhhh I have read several comments about having to cut the upholstery and Renault doesn't seem to accept the cars design fault.. this is so bad... after having claim they pioneer in people safety and got 5 star NCAP rating. I'm gonna have to contact Watchdog as well.. they should do it free of charge.
