2002 Renault Laguna Privilege from Mexico - Comments

"V6 = great value!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

When just delivered, the back curtain had a problem and didn't seem to fold correctly; therefore, a little part didn't got in completely and it made a lot of noise all the time. The dealer changed at no cost.

Also when new, the single CD player showed "error" message when introducing a CD. The dealer changed it at no cost too at the same time as the back curtain.

General comments?

Since Renault arrived Mexico about 2 years ago they started selling good cars. The new generation of the Laguna which started to be offered at the end of 2002 was just what we were looking for.

Our last 3 cars where Volkswagen (Golf, Bora, Bora) and we had been so happy that we weren't sure of changing, but the Laguna kept our attention immediatly.

Lots of smart equipment which seemed at first to be hidden, and as you use the car it all comes out little bye little.

Intelligent details. e.g. If you have the rain sensor on, when you action Reverse, the back cleaner works although you didn't put it on.

The 210hp V6 is wonderful, it pushes hard considering the weight of the car; gadgets=weight. It delivers great sound, I wonder how would

it sound if I install a High Flow Air filter...

I believe it doesn't spend that much gasoline considering it is a medium V6, in fact it is economic to be a 3.0 liter. But obviously

if you want to save fuel, take a bike.

The Continentals seem a little hard to me, but I have had good experience with them in other cars.

Perfect brakes, the emergency system works just fine, with total control of the car. The Laguna breaks as if it were a smaller car.

The suspension works fine, a little soft for my needs, but that is only when you push hard in the corners. All the electronics help a lot.

I don't now how reliable Renault would be, just until now there has been no problem. I hope this car last long enough, and the only way of knowing that was buying one.

Well I'm glad your Laguna is serving you well; mine is a complete lemon, over $12,000 of repairs and still has problems, the services are expensive and it is a complete lemon! Get out while you can.
