"Good technology spoilt by poor reliability and terrible dealer service"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Refused to start sporadically despite being returned to the dealers 5 times. Eventually traced to a bad earth on the starter.

Tire pressure monitor kept showing faults - dealer told me "They all do it".

Low profile wheels bucked on inside - maybe caused by speed humps?

Card key system occasionally refused to work, resulting in not being able to lock car. It would then fix itself as if by magic.

Drivers seat started squeaking, needing a new seat frame to solve the problem.

General comments?

A very well equipped and advanced car, but with very unreliable electrics.

Rain sensor works well, better than other cars I have tried.

Good handling and road holding, thanks to huge tires. But ride and road noise is compromised by the same.

Seats comfortable for long journeys.

Reasonably quick for a 1.8 16V.

I have a company car, a Renault Laguna Estate. It's the worst car I have ever had, immobiliser and other electric problems have been outrageous. I have had the AA out 5 times, auto electicians, e.t.c. I was told it will cost £800 to get the immobiliser repaired, who'd want to steal a heap like this? I said take the immobiliser out, only to get told it was impossible! Surely it should be the customer's choice, or if not, fit a piece of kit that works and doesn't cost more than the value of the car to get it repaired. A lesson learnt. NEVER GET RENAULT.
