2006 Renault Megane expression review from Turkey

Odour problem of French made Renault Megane 2.

Sometimes there is a terrible odour like you are passing nearby a waste disposal (or toilet) area. I asked to service station and they said that it is because of catalytic converter that Renault uses and they said after a few thousands of kilometers it will disappear. I bought this French made Renault car new and now it is about 10.000 km and still I feel this odour. Anyone who wants to smell terrible odour can buy this type of car. They also told me that this may happen because I do not drive more quicker. I laughed, I am driving cars since about 30 years and I have been driving other Renaults. I hope after the warranty period they will tell me that something else causes this and I have to pay for it. Their customs relations on the phone also said that there may be a smell, but then they have sent me a letter that there is no odour in my car. But I am the one driving it :)

The carpets move out of the plastics on the floor, you have to fix them after somebody sits on the back seat. They did not pay much attention to the details.

Some crack noises comes from the windows, I think from window jacks.

If you do not mind the terrible odour. Generally the people who smell this in my car decide not to buy Renault.

Car is good to drive. Nice family car. Seats are Comfortable. They say security is also good, I haven't tested it, hope not.
