"Biggest heap of crap I've ever bought"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Can't start the car as the immobilisor will not switch off.

The key will not lock the car manually, only remote

locking, which I can't use because my key isn't working.

The clutch is very stiff.

I find it difficult to get into 1st and 2nd gear sometimes.

General comments?

I took my car to the car wash yesterday, and left the man with the key.

I came back to find the man couldn't turn off the immobilisor.

I had the same problem once before, but was able to take the key apart and fix it.

I wasn't so fortunate this time and had to leave my car in the car wash.

I rang the AA in the morning and they were unable to fix the key, so they towed me home.

I rang Renault after looking at this website, and insisted it must be the manufacturers fault, as the same thing has happened to a lot more people.

I'm going to bring my car and key to them, and if I have to pay 150 pound for a new key, I will be reporting Renault to Watchdog and Trading Standards.

Anyone who reads this and is experiencing the same problem, it would be worth reporting to one of the above, as I think it's another way of making money from people.

It has to be a problem with Renault, as it's happening to too many people, and I don't hear about it happening with other manufacturers.

I can relate to your problems. I've experienced the very same.

I bought my Megane second hand. Only had it a month and my keys wouldn't work. With luck, when I insured the car, I received free key cover. If I hadn't, it would have cost me £160.00 for new key and £50.00 pick up fee from my house to the Renault dealer, but Renault are very crafty; before my keys went, I took them to my dealer and they told me that one wasn't any good and needed to be replaced. The keys needed to be reprogrammed, but when the pick up came for the car, he needed a key to unlock the steering. When I collected vehicle from them, the key they said was no good was fixed as well. That tells me be careful because they will tell people lies about their keys, just so you will buy a new one, which means more money for them.

I also noticed the gear stick sticking when changing from 1st to 2nd, also when going up the gears, as soon as I hit 4th, the car sounds like a tank.
