2001 Renault Megane Convertible review from Australia and New Zealand
"Enjoyable soft top, but with soft performance"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The car has had no major problems, but there is an unusual pulsating sound that's similar to amplified road noise.
The interior is showing greater signs of wear than I had hoped.
Rear window has discolored.
General comments?
The automatic roof is very easy to use, but as with any convertible, luggage space is marginal.
Handling is tight and fun for a front driver, but the engine can't keep up. This car needs at least another 30kW. Acceleration is acceptable, but hardly scintillating. The trade off here is commendable fuel economy.
People constantly comment as to how nice the car looks (dark blue, with matching roof) and the kids love the roof-down experience.
Interior is comfortable, but the plastic rear window is now almost opaque (who cares, the roof is down whenever it isn't raining anyway...)
