2000 Renault Megane Alize review from Slovenia

"I am disappionted, our previous car the Renault 11 hadn't failed once in 17 years!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

At 6.000 km the first ignition coil failed.

At 10.000 km the second ignition coil failed.

At 14.000 km the third ignition coil failed. And the last one was changed also. Renault knovs about this problem, but doesn't do anything about it! The spare ignition coils that are made by a different manufacturer are all still working for the last 100.000km!

At 20.000 km the sealing rubber from the front screen came out and had to be glued back in place.

At 40.000 km we noticed that in heavy rain the right front doors leak water!

At 50.000 km the central locking stopped locking the left rear door!

At 70.000 the rear shock absorber broke in half!

At 80.000 the release button of the hand brake fell off!

At 90.000 km the exhaust manifold started leaking and had to be changed at 100.000km. That was really expencive, since the front catalyts is bolted on the manifold. The manifold costs over 500 euro!

At 100.000 km the cam-belts had to be changed and the cost was enormous! The parts alone costed 450 euro and the weren't bought at the dealer! Original parts would cost twice as much!

General comments?

The car isn't very reliable!

It breaks a lot! And the car wasn't trashed around it has been well taken care off!

The parts are extremely expencive!

The originally homologated tires for this car are 185/60 R15 and this tire size practicaly doesn't exist any more!

The ride is other vise wery comfortable!

The brakes and the steering are too soft, but other vise very good.
