Lovely Car, everything has been great.
Car caught fire outside my house. The.
Fire bigade suggest electrical fault!
Anyone else heard of anything like.
This?. Renault GB have not been much.
Help and the dealer just says its.
In the hands of Renault.
No help from my insurance company.
In the meantime I am left without a car.
Which makes things very difficult as,
My wife uses the car for work.
A car catching fire or a "thermal event" must be taken seriously. You could have been in the car or the car could have been parked near others that could have joined the inferno. Renault should be looking after you not fobbing you off. Perhaps a suggestion that the Vehicle Inspectorate may be interested will bring them to their senses.
You are not the only person this has happened to,
i am having the same issues with Renault uk and the dealer.
My thermal incident happened on the M1 whilst driving.
The car is a total loss.
I am fighting with Renault tho, but have now been without a car for a month now.
My friend has just had a similar incident R.A.C. man suggested it was common rail diesel problem. He has two young children who, thankfully, were not in the car at the time. Surely a recall should be initiated, if not then WATCHDOG would be interested.

I bought a pre-owned 2003 Renault Megane 1.6 Authentique in April this year. The car broke down on me the first time two weeks after taking ownership - I was told the battery was flat ands this was promptly replaced. On 13 July, 2 months after the initial break down, the car broke down again. The engine cut out and I couldn't get the vehicle started. Within in a matter of minutes a fire was raging under the bonnet and the car has since been declared a write-off. In spite of having reported the incident to Renault South Africa's head office via the customer care line (a VOICE MESSAGING SERVICE!!!) AND fax, I did not receive any feedback from them. Thanks to the fact that someone in my family knows the financial director of Renault South Africa, this matter has been escalated. I wait with baited breath for the outcome of further investigations.
I bought my used Renault from a main renault dealer. 2-3 weeks after purchasing the vehicle I've had nothing, but problems. Entire electrical fault, where I lost all power including steering control whilst driving, squeaky brakes, engine cuts out when it feels like it, the engine mounts had worn away after only 18,000 miles on the clock, my aircon leaks into the passenger foot well, I've had smoke fill the car up and even sparks from my fuse box. In all, a rubbish car and a rubbish manufacturer! Oh, and selling it on proves to be a bit of a problem.
