Faulty audio speaker
Rattle on dash.
I have a Renault Megane 1.5Dci 100 automatic as a company car, I don’t think that these are that common, and who would have thought that a 1500cc Diesel automatic would be any good ? I must admit I am very happy with the car and it’s perfect for driving in London as well as frequent trips to Reading (about 100 miles from where I live in Kent surprisingly nippy and refined.
At present I get around 50mpg average in town and up to 60mpg on a motorway trip. At the first service I had to get the rear door speaker changed as it was resonating, and I also had a rattle on the dash which has now been fixed but as another reviewer stated, depending on the temperature it can still squeak at times.
The car is very comfortable and I still like the shape as it’s very different from other cars. I had a 2001Ford Focus previously which as you know people rave about, however for day to day running the Renault runs rings around the Ford and I have found the dealer much happier to help.
I couldn't agree more with this review. I too had a Focus LX 1.8TD (which I was actually very fond of) and have recently taken delivery of a Megane 1.5 dCi 106PS Dynamique 6 speed manual in Sports Tourer guise.
In terms of refinement, comfort, equipment, performance and economy, as well as day to day "liveability" the Megane doesn't only beat the Focus, but thrashes it. However, credit where it's due, the Focus is/was a far more enjoyable car to drive hard. The chassis on my Focus felt tauter and more chuckable at 80,000 miles than the Megane's did with delivery miles on it. The Megane has awful numb steering as well.
Still, as a family car / motorway hack, I can't honestly criticise it. The 1.5 dCi engine is amazing and can hold its own with many of the 1.8-2.0 diesels out there. I would argue it's actually one of the smoothest and quietest four cylinder diesel engines money can buy, as well as being unbelievably frugal, and producing daft amounts of power for its size.
Cheers

I have a 1.5 dCi 100 bhp Megane as well and think it's great. The engine is amazingly fast and economical as well as being refined. I have not had any problems with it apart from the sunroof that needed a quick adjustment by the dealer since it did not always close properly first time.
The problem I have is deciding what to replace it with! I definitely want another Renault so maybe another Megane.
I agree that the megane2 has a nub steering and lack of feel, and somtimes you need a firm grip and it's a shame becouse the Megane it's a fine car to drive and the ride is cushy, handling is good to bur the steering dulls a bit to drive, but for me is enjoyable to drive. i have expiroenced a few ratles from dash and that's is normal becouse the part of the display temperature lacks quality feel and the matirals used is not soft touch like some parts of the dash and doors.
