1997 Renault Megane RT Classic 4 door review from Israel
"Great value"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
One front light bulb burned out.
Original battery ran out of steam at 65,000 km.
Alarm and immobiliser occasionally go out of synch.
Wife shunted a Focus from behind. Focus totally unharmed, Megane needed new bonnet, grille and headlamps (Insurance wouldn't approve the diamond emblem...)
General comments?
Very comfortable and stable ride over bad roads. Good grip on broken surfaces.
Easy cruiser.
Gears are relatively short - keeps the engine in the powerband.
Accurate steering.
Driver's seat is hard to get comfortable in on long journeys.
Gearchange is a bit notchy.
Average fuel consumption is 11.5 km/litre.
