1994 Rover - Austin 200 214 SEi 16v review from UK and Ireland
"An energetic, comfortable, economy car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Remote Central locking didn't work in the driver's door.
The clutch went within 5 weeks. Then the alternator which caused the immobiliser to reset itself rendering the car immobile for about a week till Rover worked out how to fix it.
Apart from that not a lot really. No, sorry, one of the heater knobs came off as well.
General comments?
Not your bog standard 200 I have to say, nice looking car, alloys as standard and half leather interior. Very comfortable and spacious.
Excellent handling as long as you don't mind a bit of body roll here and there. Power steering is a bit lifeless, but OK once you get used to it.
For a 1.4 this car really moves! Once you get above 3000 RPM you can really feel the pull. I've driven my friends XR3i and there is little difference in performance.
