1998 Rover - Austin 200 216 SLi Auto review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Ultra-sonic alarm - false alarms are regular. Rust on tailgate hinge after 3 months and now a repeat at 16 months. Transmission failure at 4 months.
General comments?
Excellent car considering performance (low insurance), handling, style and economy. Let down by high initial cost (although I saved £5K on list!!) and hard depreciation. Poor satisfaction from Rover who lied to me then did not respond to further letters and also Rover dealers, who do not know what customer satisfaction is. I would buy the same car again only if I thought I had a company who cared for my money.
ps I bought a CD changer from Philips which cost £155 instead of rovers £420!!
pps The £5k saving was due to being 2yrs old at registration although Rover did not want to admit to it.
