1995 Rover - Austin 200 sei review from UK and Ireland
"A good all round car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Head Gasket and cam-belt replaced at annual service at 42000 miles. Neither had failed just a precaution total cost including full service £220.
Starter motor replaced at 43500 miles cost £89 fitted.
Alternator just gone at 45600 (easter weekend 05 typical) £90 fitted.
General comments?
The car has constantly surprised me with it's comfort and reliability, but it must be said that the annual mileages have been low to say the least. For the size of engine (1.4+105bhp) the performance is excellent, but you have to rev it to extract all the performance. With decent tyres (pirelli P700) the grip in the wet or dry is excellent at the limit it tends to drift with a slight rear bias easily controlled on the throttle. To sum up..quick..handles well..reliable..comfortable..looks good and just a good car for it's age and low mileage...
