A large number of things have gone wrong with the car:
All 4 door latches have been replaced.
New clutch.
Two throttle body injectors.
Rear tweeters.
Miscellaneous door trim.
Engine misfire.
The Rover 75 is a magnificient car, let down by poor Customer Service by MG Rover and poor reliability. I bought by car on 1st September 2000 and only now has the car been returned to Rover for investigation.
Since writing to the Deputy Chairman, things have speeded up and have been excellent.
The comfort and drive of the car is excellent and it is the most complete car I have ever owned. I previously owned a Ford Mondeo ST24 and this is streets ahead of that, even with the reliability problems.
I have recently acquired a rover 75 club & been informed that the clutch design has been changed there are no springs in the clutch plate, but rubbers have been fitted in conjunction with the fly wheel. it is recommended that the fly wheel be changed every time the clutch go`s & at £381 a fly wheel this is a rip off. my car was on 72000 miles when this occurred, the year of the car is 2000,the reason for the change rover say is (for longer lasting clutch) i feel for a more expensive repair, it`s cost me over £1000 to have it repaired.
I have had no problems with my Rover 75 until recently when I was unable to reduce my car from 4th gear to 3rd gear and found it very difficult to change gear. I therefore obtained the AA to tow my car to the main dealer as my car was still under warranty. I do not do many miles the car is 3 years old in April and have not yet done 8000 miles. I was informed by the garage that there was nothing wrong with the car? I knew something was wrong I could tell so after further investigation the garage stated I needed a new clutch and that it was not covered by the warranty. This I found very hard to understand as I am an experienced driver and did not feel that the clutch was going - the fee for this 620 pounds. I am still shocked how this can happen especially as I insisted something was wrong with the car - the garage would have let me drive with a potential danger to myself and others on the road. I am not happy with this matter and will take it further.
