1992 Rover - Austin Metro GTi MPi review from UK and Ireland
"Underrated and fun little stormer"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Absolutely nothing so far.
General comments?
What an excellent little hatch this is.
Cheap to buy, cheapish to insure, and oh so quick.
Stick on a 57i kit and a decat and you`re away.
Handling is superb, it sticks to the road like glue, its extremely rapid (60 in 8.6 seconds officially) and has a very sporty look about it with its chunky bumpers, side skirts and 7 spoke alloys.
The interior is very nice and features some comfy buckets.
So far i`ve added an exhaust, induction kit, a decat pipe and a janspeed manifold, and changed the stereo and lowered it.
I absolutely love this car, and would never have expected a metro to be so much fun.
If you`re in the 20+ age category and are looking for a nimble HOT hatch, forget the image and give one a try.
Also, make sure you get the Multi point injection model...
