3 oil leaks - (sump, gearbox and driveshaft).
Rear suspension.
Welding around the fuel tank for rust.
Carborettor went wrong and has had to be cleaned 3 times.
New engine mountings.
Rear brakes siezed up.
The exhaust keeps splitting near to the engine which causes a loss of power and sends exhaust gases through the ventilation system.
Hydragas syspension chamber leaks.
All the lights in the dashboard blew and had to be replaced.
The fuel gauge sender unit broke and the speedo cable snapped.
All of this in 2 years!
This car is my first car. I was lead to believe that it would be cheap to run and reliable. I was wrong. Every month something else goes wrong with it. The insurance group is a joke as well. The only good thing is that the engine has always started and it can beat a Nova 1.3 SR. It is very unstable at speeds of over 80 MPH. I had 114MPH on the motorway and it was very scary. I am trying to get rid of this car and I want to buy an Astra GTE 16V.
The exhaust splits at the downpipe because of the broken engine mounts, when the engine moves it splits the exhaust.
Bet you're glad to be rid of that heap man!
Give the little car a break.

I regret my earlier comments. I think I was a bit harsh on the old girl. She has since departed this world-the rust took over eventually. I don't think i'll ever own a car with as much character again. It may have been unreliable, but the engine sounded like a rally car. They say you never forget your first car, well I think this is true.
I bought one cheap as a runabout in 2002, and it was a good little motor. Fun on the back roads with a decent power to weight ratio and very nimble. Classic A-series engine with a hot cam and big valves. Easy to fix, but the rust killed them all off. Now very rare.
