1992 Rover - Austin Metro GTi MPi from UK and Ireland - Comments

"You`ll love it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Central locking needed sorting out as it packed in, ashtray holding clips snapped, but this was easily fixed, but other than those things, nothing.

General comments?

Surprising isn't the word.

Fantastic performance, 60 comes up in 8.5 seconds.

Get into 2nd gear and it takes off!

Things that you must add are an exhaust/manifold, filter kit, FSE Valve, superchip and a de-cat pipe.

Expect an easy 120bhp with the above.

The MPi has 205 gti 1900 performance, even though most people would think otherwise.

My Metro is every bit as fast as my brothers 1900 pug which also has a magnex exhaust and a chip!!

Fuel economy excellent.

Seats nice, but not quite grippy enough.

Steering wheel is a bit "grandadish", and the red seat belts are very loose.

Inside feels much larger than it looks, but the boot space is abysmal. Glove box and boot both have lights in them which is a nice touch.

Chunky 13 inch alloys as standard, thick tyres as well, gives car fantastic grip.

All in all I can honestly say i`d never have thought a metro could be such a brilliant little car. 10 out of 10.

Might be able to keep up with the pug 205 1.9 in a straight line, but not around corners!! The Metro's handling sucks big time!
