1982 Rover - Austin Metro MG review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Reconditioned engine at 100,000 miles, new fuel pump at 70,000, new cylinder head and piston rings at 140,000.
Front drivers seat broke, Alternator bad but survived.
Hydraulic clutch damper failed every 30,000 but cheap to fix. Rear arm linkage, my fault for not greasing regularly, a must every 6,000 miles.
Only one clutch in 150,000 miles! New gearbox 120,000. All big items but very cheaply installed by reputable mechanics sourced from MG owners club.
General comments?
Had this car ten years, noisy but a joy to drive. Very cheap to work on but boy do those front wings rust! Car very sadly missed and am seriously considering getting another especially as they are dirt cheap now.
Grin Factor 10/10
