1991 Rover - Austin Metro GTi SE, MPi review from UK and Ireland
"Underrated, quick and cheap to run! loads of fun!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clutch slipped, but that's wear and tear.
Thermostat, cheap job, bit hard to get at.
General comments?
Always been a fan of metros, had loads, but this is my 1st gti, se so it has the extras ie half leather, e/w..
Great engine, loves to be reved and gives great performance for a cheap car!
More fun then most newer cars, dirt cheap to run.
With a few mods, ie decat, KN, full exhaust system, indavidualise susp I gives 120bhp that then makes for very fun driving!
Its true as I read in another review it will turn you into a maniac!
When lowered the ride becomes harsh, but makes up for it in mini style handling!
So if your looking for a great fun car under a grand its got to be on the list, also gives all corsa and fiesta drivers a red face!
Recommend the 1800vvc 160! this drops straight in using a differant gearbox.
