I've driven quite a few cars and this is the most fun ever; I always have a smile on my face while driving it and people and other minis wave a lot, which is cool.
It's a standard 998cc, but it goes really if you rev the engine and use the full range of each gear. Revving it makes it quite noisy, except I don't mind because it sounds great And I've taken much of the sound insulation out.
It handles brilliantly on the 10" wheels, and I can beat many other cars around corners without even trying.
The ride is very harsh (avoid speed bumps!), but you soon get used to it, although driving for long periods at 60/70mph can be unpleasant.
I Know a woman who had a Mini 1000 as her second car. She bought it in the early 70s so it was a MK2 with the big steering wheel just like the Morris Minor 1000 had. She said if you drove it over 60mph it never felt right in the steering wheel! She drove it for nearly 13 years till it was clapped out and then bought her first new car; a Vauxhall Nova 1.2 Merit. I have a photo of her with the Mini taken in 1981/2.
