1996 SAAB 900 SE review from North America

Starter coils went out at 110000, found used coils, saved myself a few hundred dollars.

Mufflers needed to be replaced at 90,000, was $250.

Half of the speakers need replacing, but still sounds good with only half of them working.

Coolant leakage, not sure where it's coming from, afraid of taking to the shop to find out where it's from. It's an arm and a leg each time.

Roof repeatedly quits working, mechanic said it will be $1400 to replace, I told him to do the best he could without replacing the motors. The car has been to the shop twice for a quick fix of the roof.

Passenger seat locks up and does not want to move.

Heated seats do not work.

Overall I love this car, and so does my wife. It starts up every time even in -10F. With the convertible top, heat stays in the car.

With decent tires, the car handles like a champ in the snow. I can't wait to see what it does with studded tires.

There is room to fit skis and other gear.

Gets great gas mileage, 22mpg in the city, 35mpg on the highway.

The ride is not very comfortable; it feels like I'm on a rail car, but the seats are very comfortable, even on long road trips; no fatigue.

With all the negative things about the car, this still is a very reliable car and great looking too. I would love to buy a newer one. If you take car of this car it will keep on ticking.
