1997 SAAB 900 SE Talladega Sensonic from UK and Ireland - Comments

"A prestigious performance bargain"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I have just noticed a metal clunking noise coming from front right suspension area. In the process of getting it checked out.

Sensonic gear-change gets tight when changing from 1st to 2nd at higher revs.

General comments?

The interior is immaculate even after 75000 miles, the leather seats are just getting worn in. Every electrical gadget works perfectly, although I am still figuring out how to work the on-board computer!

Once the turbo is up to speed this car holds it's own with many V6's and above. Brakes are excellent, discs all round.

This is a great car and not too expensive to run or insure, I am 23 and I have insured it fully comp for under £600.

Great car, but what happens when the Sensonic module breaks

Did you know that SAAB have runout of the stock that they saved when the discontinued the sensonic?

There are still some to be found, but warranties will be limited if any.

My 900 SE Turbo Sensonic blew a hydraulic pipe and has been with my SAAB dealer for the past 5 weeks!!!

I agree with the insurance costs. Having qualified late in the working life, I only bought my first car (Saab 900 Convertible) at 29. The full insurance set me back considerably less than for example equivalent BMW.

Excuse me, but whats a sensonic module? I'm not very mechanically inclined sorry to say. my wife and I have a 97 Saab 900 Turbo (talladega badge) with 5sp. have had it since 2000. love it, have about 70K on it. wife primarily drives it, (61 yrs old), so in order to keep it "tuned", once every couple months, I take it out and blow it out around 120mph. too chicken for more. so again, whats the sensonic module anyone out there???

Thanks.

I sold this car in 2003. As predicted the sensonic module went, cost £1300 to get the car converted to a standard manual transmission.

Very glad this car is no longer in my life, a big money pit.

I am now in the process of getting a Skoda Fabia Vrs, very addictive torque!!

Sensonic was a clutchless manual gear box that Saab had for a short time and then decided to discontinue. The car had a manual gear change but no clutch pedal as this was controlled electronically. Mercedes had a similar system which worked quite well, but sensonic automatic clutch systems are now redundant with the advances in automatic and tiptronic gearboxes.
