1986 SAAB 900 900i 5d 5-speed review from Finland
"For strong strange men"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
120000km Manual transmissions 5th gear went broken.
Steering wheels pressed connection was loose, and the wheel started to rise slightly agains the driver in tight corners. typical failure said maintenance, and it was not repaired.
1500000km Heaters hot valve went broken, extremely expensive part and very difficult to change.
140000km radiator had to be replaced due to leaking. difficult to change.
160000km rear doors window crank went broken.
Fuel consumption was really high, average 9-10 liters/100km. avoid city driving.
General comments?
Check that the power steering is in the example you are buying. otherwise car will be VERY hard to turn in city.
Seats are good, but the position of wheel and pedals are simply wrong:
either driver has pedals in knees or the steering wheel is too far.
Very expensive and difficult for do-it-yourself mechanic. otherwise safe and quite reliable. terrible to drive.
Heater is good.
