1995 SAAB 9000 CD review from Brunei
"Fast but fussy car, for reliability get a Toyota"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Belt tensioner failed. Replaced twice.
Brake discs easily warped. Replaced several times.
Radiator leaked. Replaced.
Transmission failed at 65000km. Repaired.
Ignition cartridge failed around 90000km. Managed to limp back. Replaced.
High beam relay failed. Replaced.
Head lamp wiper motors failed. Ignored.
Transmission failed again 130000km. Going to replace.
General comments?
Fast car but sluggish off the line, probably because it's an automatic. However acceleration is impressive during overtaking!!! That's where I want it anyway.
Spacious. Unfortunately it does not have that solid feel to it like a Mercedes or BMW have, especially when going over bumps.
Soft brake feel. Improved it by adding braided brake hoses. Improved the braking further by using slotted disc rotors.
The car also banks a lot during cornering. Changed to Bilstein absorbers and 16" rims. You can make the car take the corners, but it requires more from you than say a BMW.
