1993 SAAB 9000 CDE review from UK and Ireland
What things have gone wrong with the car?
ECU and alarm system blown by the RAC, on breakdown callout, but failed to accept responsibility, so left with 1000 pound bill.
ABS front sensor changed, made no difference, fault believed to be with ABS management system(approx 600.00 repair) so driving with permanent ABS light on.
Counter-balance chains worn (800.00 rebuild).
Direct Ignition cartridge needs changing as intermittent firing on 3 cylinders, usually brought on by de-acceleration.
Quick cure is switch off ignition, leave for 5 seconds and re-start.
Headlamp washers don't.
One headlamp wiper has mind of it's own.
Overheating due a common 9000 fault, which is a wire in the loom goes pear shaped. Local garage knew the problem as soon as I took it in.
General comments?
Disappointed for a car that had only done 100K when I bought it.
Now on 115K.
Plus points:
Good ecomony 29MPG mixed driving
Good solid feel to it, like a Golf.
Excellent roadholding.
