1991 SAAB 9000 CDiS review from UK and Ireland
"Large, luxurious, dependable tourer/hauler"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Very little!
Both CV joints electively done.
Tyres at 40,000 miles.
Body and chassis superb.
Will start at -10 degress celcius any time.
Servicing at SAAB garages is pricey and this is not the simplest DIY engine to work on and tune.
General comments?
Very trusty and reliable cruiser.
Mechanically and ergonomically designed to high Swedish standards, and with a cockpit like feel.
The cabin is comfortable, with a high quality leather and walnut dash...
Although not a boy racer, its practicality and acceleration from 30-80 mph is very impressive.
With a large storage volume this is an ideal family mover and motorway cruiser.
The fuel consumption, although 24-34 mpg (city - rural) is worth the solid build and reliability, and is respectable on long hauls.
Insurance group is 14/20 and can be a hefty price/performance ratio especially for the young...
