Lets SEE what HAS NOT GONE WRONG!!! the Car Sucks People say that Saab run forever well not this one It was a Complete waste of my money and in two cases MONEY I Didn't have... the WHOLE ignition colum and Mechanism went out, the ball joint on the Driver side, and NOW ITS BURNING OIL ANDI JUST HAD A TUNE UP FOR THE WINTER it goes threw a Quart every week!!! I'm am Lucky the thing still starts.
Well it is a Comfortable car to ride in and smooth on the road When its running great on those RARE days.
Wow you bought a 16 year-old vehicle with 192,000 on it and then you complain that it is not reliable???!!!
The majority of 16 year-old cars with that kind of miles on it have long been in the salvage yard.
To me, the fact that it was still running is proof as to how well-built Saab's are.
Your review also tells me that there are a lot of people out there with unrealistic expectations about old cars with high mileage.
What did you expect, a like-new car with a lifetime warranty??
It would be amazing if every single car that came from a specific manufacturer was absolutely perfect in every way, but we do have to live in the real world here.
I'm on my 3rd Saab, first '82 900, then '87 9000 Turbo (quantum leap!) and now '91 9000 Carlsson 2.3 Turbo, 270,000km on the clock and man can this car scare the living doo-doos outta people; slight plumbing re-vamp on the turbo set-up of my own design and estimated 350 bhp... reliably!
One wheel bearing, set of brake pads and rotors and a set of tyres; wow, talk about breaking the bank, NOT! Guess you were just unlucky as several of my friends have since bought Saabs cos mine impressed them so much and they're all fanatical about them. Maintenance is always an issue with every car and if previous owners have been slack in maintaining your over-10yr old car... what can you expect???
The Saab 9000 is a great car. If you expect a 16 year old to do well in an old car like that you are wrong!!!
