Engine sounds weird when going down a hill.
I love my ion 2 however when going down a hill and
I put my brake on to slow down, sometimes the engine
revs up and the rpm stays at 2.5 and it takes a
second or two for the transmission to gear down. I've
had other people drive it and they think it sounds
like it has an engine tarter (?) on it. It may be
normal, I am used to driving a 6cyl and I know 4cyl
cars are louder. If anyone knows anything about my
issue please let me know.
For a small car I find it rather comfortable. I like
the size of the interior.
The exterior looks sporty, I love the rust and dent
resistant panels.
The headlights are not as bright as I would like. I
think they need sronger bulbs or adjusted.
Not as easy on gas as I would like. It gets 42mpg, but
the aveos get 45 or 48, however the ions are a little
bigger and better in my opion.
Chances are your ION has the Asian-built 5-speed automatic in it (if it is the 4-door model). This transmission tends to do exactly as you describe in order to assist in decelerating down a hill. It is functioning properly -- it's just somewhat unusual for an auto to do this (it's similar to manually downshifting your car to slow down when descending a hill).
I have a 2003 ion and my problem is the cd player keeps
kicking the cd back out without trying to read it. Any
suggestions on my problem? I tried the cleaning it with
the can of air, but, no luck!
