I have a 94 Saturn SC2. I got it from my daughter. It had a bad idle problem, fluctuated from 1600 to 800 rpm and back. The car was hard to start. Sometimes I had to hold the gas pedal to the floor to start it. Someone suggested I replace the coolant temperature sensor that reports to the cars computer (NOT the one for the gauge). It fixed my idle problem and the car starts every time now. I was astonished at how much difference that $20 part made to this car. Be sure to get the part from Saturn. Make sure it has the brass tip.

Hi. I have a 95 Saturn sc1 model. it is a great car, the only problem I have is with the temperature gauge. even when the car has not been running for hours and is obviously cold, the temp gauge still jumps to the mid mark as soon as the car is started. after about ten minutes of driving it is in the red. I have flushed my system, changed my thermostat, and changed my temp sensors. does anyone have any ideas? please email me if you do. kscircle@gmail.com.

I bought a 94 SL2 about 2 months ago for fairly cheap.

The only thing wrong with it at the time was the seal between the roof and the door would leak. I fixed that, and the over heating issue that so many others have, has arisen.

Temp sensor, thermostat, radiator, and deflector have all been replaced, and there is still that persisting problem.

I do fine at speeds above 40 mph, but as we all know, not everywhere you go you can floor it and hope to not get pulled over.

As of 2 days ago though, my cooling fan has stopped working and now my odometer has also stopped. I'm gonna assume an electrical issue now.

I have had 4 mechanics, not including myself look at it. It's a good running car, but most of these issues are expected with older cars, and seeing as how mine is 15 years old now, I just wish they didn't all hit me at once. A $600 car isn't worth $2,000 in repairs to save $5 bucks a week in gas from home to work.

Good luck to everyone else, but I'm saving and getting a new car. And for the record, Saturns aren't that bad, we just got our share of lemons or bad previous owners.

I also have a 94 SC2, and when I got the car in 07, it was a really good car and it ran really good.

Yeah it does have over 200,000 miles on it now, but I now need the motor mounts replaced, I need the transmission worked on, and I need the sun roof fixed as it has gone out

It likes to try to over heat unless I have the heat on, which sucks during the summer time, and it hates reverse; it slams into reverse really hard.

It ruins any kind of electronics that are plugged in to it. I have gone through 3 radios cuz the car likes to eat them.

Pretty much it's a bad car now. Pretty much the only good things on the car are the motor and the A/C haha.

I just wish all the problems hadn't hit me all at once, seeing as how I'm a college student and only work part time :(
