1997 Saturn SC review from North America
"I will not buy another Saturn product"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
My 1997 Saturn SC2 engine started using oil excessively around 50,000 miles (About a quart every 1,000 miles!). At 65,000 miles, the engine suddenly ceased. No prior indicator lights or noise. Replaced the engine with a used 38,000 mile engine. Now, with 108,000 miles on the vehicle, about 81,000 on this engine, it ceased again. I have had regular 3,000 mile oil changes and no prior significant notice of loss of oil. Again, no indicators--no warning lights, no engine noise, just ceased.
General comments?
I didn't know about these sort of sites on the Internet. I think it's great. Had I done my homework before, I would be in this mess for a second time. The first time it happened, Saturn did not give me any indication that this was a common or known problem. I will never buy another Saturn again and may very well go back to foreign made vehicles.
