1995 Saturn SL sl1 review from North America
"I would buy a new one in a heart beat!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Alternator bearings went out
motor mounts went bad
valve guides went bad
temp sensor that controls the cooling fan went bad
Drivers and passenger windows will not roll up all the way
ignition switch seems to stick in sometimes
mysterious electrical problem shuts down the car and then start up again w/o a problem.intermittently the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH LOSS OF RADIO AND WIPERS.
General comments?
THIS CAR MAY SOUND BAD, but AT NEARLY 250000 MILES I THINK IT IS DOING WONDERFUL!!! OVER 40 MILES TO A GALLON OF GAS! STARTS EVERY TIME! YEAH, BECAUSE THE VALVE GUIDES ARE WORE OUT IT SMOKES LIKE CRAZY WHEN YOU FIRST START DRIVING IT. The motor mounts were bad when I bought the car, regretfully I bought it from a pay by the week company. The windows were bad too. I had a heck of a time troubleshooting the cooling problem and AUTO-ZONE WAS NO HELP!!! they gave me the wrong part and assured me it was the right part! for the most part the car seems easy to work on and the Chiltons book is pretty good! I still cannot get over the 40 mpg! wow!!! Way to go Saturn.
