1995 Saturn SL SL2 review from North America
"I love this car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Power steering gasket started weeping. Dealer spotted weeping before it worsened into a leak, and fixed it for under a hundred dollars.
Front rotors warped because a shop did not torque the wheel bolts evenly.
I replaced them with slotted rotors and metal pads. Stopping power is excellent now.
The ignition coils went bad at 90K miles, and I replaced them with a used part for $70.
The EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) valve became clogged at 88K miles. Replaced with a new part for $90.
At 114,500 miles, I've had to replace the usual stuff: Plugs, plug wires, radiator hoses, PCV valve, accessory belt.
General comments?
This has been a great car. It is quick, handles *very* well, and is comfortable.
I've done all maintenance myself, except for the power steering seal. Maintenance items are easy to perform.
I wish I had purchased the wagon.
