1995 Saturn SL review from North America
"A good car for the price"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The automatic transmission began to jerk when the car is shifting at 142000 km.
The plastic panel squeeks often on the road.
The engine lost power at 130000 km. The dealer made a general tune up on the car, and it got better.
In the summer when the engine is under load for examlpe, going up hill, you get knocks, unless you use high octane gasoline.
The car uses a lot of engine oil, after 5000 km there is less than 2 litres of oil left in the oil pan.
This is normal for this kind of car.
General comments?
The car has little power. Especially if it's atomatic.
But it is good on gas.
And it handles well.
But it doesn't look good, especially from the back.
The automatic transmission shifts with a lot of noise sometimes, or sometimes it forgets to shift and then shifts at a high RPM creating a loud knock.
I know I say a lot of bad things about it, but generally it is pretty good.
