1998 Saturn SL SL2 review from North America
"A huge disappointment"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
What has gone wrong with this car? More than I would have liked to deal with.
The interior light wouldn't work unless you smacked the roof, after which it would just hang from the ceiling, still not functioning.
A crack in my coolant case caused a smoking exit from the drive-thru line and nearly $200 out of my pocket.
The driver side and passenger side mirrors had to be replaced.
The front brakes went suddenly at 100,000 kilometres.
My alternator went causing the battery to be drained and another $380 out of my pocket.
The most recent is the check engine light that won't go off. Apparently the transmission sensor is malfunctioning causing the check engine light to turn on and off at it's discretion. However the biggest problem with this is the constant stalling and the inability of the car starting.
General comments?
This car was a real disappointment!!!
I will never buy another Saturn again and would urge others to do the same.
This car has given me nothing, but grief.
There are only a few good things I can say about this car. It looks good both inside and out. The factory sound system isn't half bad. And the one thing that hasn't broken and works at or above standards is the a/c.
