1995 Saturn SL -1 review from North America
"Good little economy car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
At time of purchase: master cylinder squeaked. promptly fixed by dealer
at 80,000 miles: Factory tires replaced
at 90,000 miles: A wire on the alternator became loose and prevented the car from running.
At 140,000 miles: Cascade effect. Rear break cylinder leaking, water pump leaking, thermostat in need of replacement.
General comments?
suprisingly peppy for a four cylinder engine. While rating at only around 100 horse power my '95 Saturn can outrun stock '01 civics and cavaliers.
Handling was a nice sharp turn radius and quite responsive in general. The lean was a little much during very sharp turns, but in all the car stayed glued to the road.
Insane economy. I would average 33mpg driving around st louis highway and city averaged together. Excellent fuel saver.
Road noise. My biggest complaint on this vehicle it is rather loud especially around 70mph and during heavy acceleration.
In all. 10 years, 142,500 miles. Consider the fact mine was driven pretty hard and wasn't maintained all that well.
