1996 Saturn SL SL2 review from North America
"Excellent value for money; would buy another"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Clunking noise occasionally when shifting into reverse.
General comments?
Until recently this car ran smoothly. Now it 'stutters' when I punch the pedal at a light; it also 'stutters' when cruising at 40-45 mpg; otherwise it runs beautifully. Will do my own tune-up. Engine uses one quart of oil during the last 500 miles before an oil change (every 5000 miles), gets 25 to 31 mpg depending on city/freeway/etc., is driven to speed limit at all times (i.e. 75 mph on high-speed interstates), is towed behind motorhome (4 wheels down) for more than 10000 miles each year. Cost us 3 thousand to buy. In addition to tires, brakes, oil changes, etc. have had to replace idler pulley (our only "repair".) Would buy another in a heart beat.
