2003 Saturn VUE review from North America
"Great riding car, except for the VTI trans"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I, like others, developed trans trouble with my VUE at 77,000 miles. I was 2 miles over the extended warranty, but my dealership cut the $600 repair cost to $200. I have the 4 cylinder FWD model, and I've had a few trips to Saturn very early on concerning trans issues. I have been fortunate with the dealership in MI with respect to them admitting Saturn has trans issues and I should approach Spring Hill on this. I agree with others that GM needs to admit this VTI is bad news and replace this trans. Guess I'm fortunate I have not stalled out, but experienced the hesitation and lack of power on a few occasions this past summer. The dealer just informed me the TFP sensor is gone in the trans, but I should call the 800# to see if Saturn will cover it. I would like to know how to find more info on this Class Action Suit?
General comments?
I previously had a Saturn SL2, enjoyed the car and wanted a SUV. Had good luck with Saturn mechanics and that prompted my decision to buy the VUE, brand new in Nov 2002. If GM wants to keep market share, they need to correct issues or people will head to Honda and Toyota.
