2002 Saturn VUE review from North America
"My opinion is that GM is selling overpriced junk!!!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
I bought my Vue when it was 3 years old, and it had 75000 kms on it.
After only 4 months or so, I had to have a wheel bearing replaced. Fortunately they did it under warranty because they are over $300.00 just for the part plus labour to install.
I've since put only 40000 km in 4 yrs on the car, and it sits at 115,000 kms as I write this complaint.
I took it in to the dealership just over a week ago, because it is in need of another bearing replacement. They refused to do it for free because it is now 7 years old. I argued with them that (1) it is still within the mileage requirements and (2) they know that bearings are a problem because they've already had to replace 1 on my Vue since I bought it and 2 on my sister's 2006 Ion. To prove my point, there just so happened to be another Vue owner show up (while I was there) to get his bearing replaced. Needless to say they refused to do it under warranty, so I refused to give them the business and took it to a personal friend that is a licensed mechanic.
As if that wasn't bad enough, I was driving the car this past Friday night and the clutch pedal gave out. I was in heavy traffic and almost rear ended another car because the transmission would not come out of gear (thank goodness I was quick thinking and turned the ignition off). I took the car in to my mechanic, and he is now determining whether it is the clutch master cylinder or the slave cylinder that is faulty.
Again this car has only 150000 kms (less than 100000 miles) on it and SHOULD NOT be having issues such as these.
THIS CERTAINLY IS PUSHING ME TOWARDS BUYING AN IMPORT FROM HERE ON IN... AND THE BIG 3 NORTH AMERICAN MANUFACTURERS WONDER WHY WE ARE SWITCHING? HELLO!!!??? QUALITY VEHICLES ARE WHAT YOU SHOULD BE MANUFACTURING IF YOU WANT US NORTH AMERICANS TO BUY YOUR PRODUCT. AFTER ALL, YOU ARE CERTAINLY CHARGING US ENOUGH FOR THEM NOW-A-DAYS!!!
