2002 Saturn VUE review from North America
"Not 100% ready for consumers yet"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
The steering column started having problems a few months after I purchased the car. It grinds and pulls and makes horrible noises.
The four wheel drive does very poorly in adverse weather conditions. Even with studded snow tires I could not make it up a slight incline; forget about making it up any hills.
The service light has come on several times for no apparent reason. The dealership claimed it must be something I was doing.
After eight months of complaining to the dealership, they finally admitted the VUEs have a faulty part in the boot of the steering column and Saturn has yet to find a fix. They also admitted that there have been many reported problems with the service lights shorting out, and that too is being looked at.
The service department claims the boot problem is because dirt gets in there and causes problems. Ridiculous. I had the car detailed and immediately took it them for service. The same noise and pulling started again before I even made it off the lot.
General comments?
My biggest complaint is that I have to drive a car that I do not feel safe in due to the problems with the steering column and the dealership does not seem to care, or be able to give me a straight answer. So much for their "customer service" commercials.
