2003 Saturn VUE LX from North America - Comments

"SATURN will have to answer for this car in the very near future - I guarantee it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Multiple problems, but most seriously the Clutch Actuator went out at 41,500 miles.

General comments?

The vehicle itself is nice to drive when it is running or not being serviced for manufacturing defects.

Thus far the wipers have gone out, the fuel gauge has gone bad, the drivers side power window went out, and most recently - and seriously the clutch actuator went out. This particular problem could be a safety concern. Fortuantely this occured while I was at my place of employment, and not on a trip. The total cost to repair was around $860.00 by a local mechanic. The dealership wanted to charge me $1600.00. The shop that repaired the vehicle had to wait a week and a half to get the part because they were on "back order". I have done some investigating and discovered that this is a growing problem as this model years VUE's pass the 38000 to 44000 mile mark - how convienient for SATURN.

All problems stated are fact and have not been imbellished. BUYER BEWARE!

My husband and I bought the 2003 Saturn Vue in August of 2003. I was excited of course, new car..yeah!

It has a creak on the front end when you turn to the right, but Saturn has not heard it, no noise hear they say.

The transmission hesitates taking off between 2nd and third gear. Almost a hesitation and a jerking motion. The first told me that it was like an airplane engine, and funny, I thought I bought a SUV, not a CESSNA! It has been in 4 times for this one, and they said..."Our computer cannot read any error" We have asked them to take it on the road to feel this and they said they have. I no sooner pulled out of Saturn when this happened again. Frustration??? HECK YES! They also told me that the transmission was not slipping, my tires need replacing and my wheels were spinning. My WHAT??? Here I am this FEMALE they are thinking is really a dunce one.

I am so upset over this, I am looking for "0" percent financing on ANYTHING so I can get rid of this vehicle. I really liked it and had no intentions of getting rid of it until now.

I can relate to your issues up on the prairies in Canada. We have a 2002 Vue AWD V6 and have had all sorts of problems since new (now at 101,000 kms) that like yourself, will reconsider any future dealings with Saturn.

I also have comments on my 2003 VUE. After the lastest recall, which was a real safety issue... I now am dealing with clutch and transmission problems. Tomorrow will be my third attempt for them to fix my car, which they swear is fine anyway. The slave cylinder blew out as I was shifting into 5th on a major busy highway. Not Good. I plan to speak with the service manager in the am. I hope they will get it right this time.

I have owned a 2002 Vue AWD since March of 2002. I can't begin to tell you of all the problems I've experienced and the many hours I've wasted taking my vehicle into the repair shop! I would have to say that most of my vehicle has been replaced at one time or the other! I won't even give a list... there are just too many problems to even go there! My vehicle has just passed the 3 year, 60,000 KM warranty mark and it's now started to make a "wailing" noise from the rear brakes. I will not take it back to Saturn for this repair. I've had terrible service from the two dealerships I've dealt with and I just know they'll charge me an arm and a leg! I'm not sure whether I can ask others on this site, but has anyone else experienced a noise coming from the rear brakes? Mine just started and the brake pads have a lot left on them (I had this checked). If anyone has any info, please e-mail me at: jodilw@telus.net. Thanks!

I have to agree with the extremely exhausting trips to the service department. I own a 2002 Vue with 5000 kilometres left on the extended warranty; if it wasn't for the look, it would be gone. Fuel gage replaced, heater core replaced, front stabilizers replaced, new tires at 60,000 kilometres, and the list goes on. I'm scared to see what happens when the warranty runs out. Lately poor customer service at the service department has me rethinking my future car purchases.

I have had my Saturn Vue AWD since January of 2002. There have been problems with it ever since I drove it off the lot. The latest and most serious was a left rear wheel collapse as I was (luckily) pulling into my driveway. Had this happened on the highway with the wife and kids it would have been disastrous. Beware of purchasing this vehicle. Most of the problems with it talked about on this board have happened to me as well!!

I purchased my 2002 VUE in April the year it came out. Recently it has been one problem right after the next. I just got the vehicle back last month after the SERVICE ENGINE SOON light came on and the BRAKE light STAYED on. They replaced the engine ignition module, spark plugs, coil pack, and also did a brake job on the car. They also charged me for an oil change and I had just had the oil change four days before!! Well, yesterday I was driving and the clutch just went out. Completely gave way. No tension, I can push it to the floor with my pinky if I had to! I have also had a problem for months where it sounds like I am driving a 4x4 truck! The engine is loud and when I took it to Saturn, they said everything was fine! My car is sitting at Saturn right now and who knows what they will do to it now!?!

I have a 2005 Saturn Vue, it was just towed to the dealership at 26k and I was told it was a bad clutch acuator and a throw out bearing, I have had it in the shop 2x for the gas gauge not working- I was told it was a sensor. It has also had the door lock replaced as they died too! And last of all although not a major mechanical issue, I've been through 2 CD players! When will this ever end? Junk of a car!
