To the poster above with the ignition cylinder problem:
If you had it fixed under warranty (I think you said you had it lubed), then the problem was pre-existing. You should have it covered even though the warranty expired because it existed prior to it expiring. Bring this up with the dealer and show evidence that you already had it repaired once.
Saturn corporate is instructed to lube the cylinder first and then replace it if it reoccurs. Good luck.
Most of the Saturns having transmission problems are the V-6 models with the Honda drive train. Honda has been notorious for bad transmissions for a decade.
I have a 2005 Saturn Vue with the large Honda V6 engine, currently 38K miles. The car has been very reliable without any problems. I think the earlier Vues had some issues but the more recent models are better made. As for the rest of the Saturn cars, the recent models are nice looking and have apparently been getting good reviews by the "experts."
Saturn should be ashamed of itself, but you have to have a conscience to feel shame and they obviously don't. SATURN VUE 2005 is a total $30,000.00 piece of crap. The dealer is a total asshole and corporate is no better. They sold me a "NEW CAR"
without a drive shaft making my AWD a 2wheel drive and useless in snow. The dealer refused to make good on the car and so did corporate. I had 2 independent repair shops inspect the car and they both concluded it came from the factory without the proper parts, as the were NO SCARS FROM BOLTS where there should have been a drive shaft.
The electrical system sucks. My DRL lights don't come on. The entire dash lights up with the car with wrench in it, battery light etc. Had alternator and battery checked and both check out as O.K. however the lights still come on. Daily I pray I don't get stranded.
The last few days there is a horrible creaking as you turn a corner. I'm guessing the ball joints are shot. TIRES ARE WORN UNEVENLY THANKS TO NO DRIVE SHAFT.
IN SHORT SATURN CARS AND THEIR SALES PEOPLE SUCK OUT LOUD. I WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW AND ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN NEVER TO WASTE THEIR MONEY ON THIS PIECE OF CRAP.
I have a serious question regarding 5 spd 04 ~ 05 Vue.
It looks like they were manufactured with less consistancy than most other vehicles out there. Last week sometime I was at the one of the used car lot attempting to start the ignition on 04 Vue 5 spd. My entire body was still out side and was reaching in to start the vehicle (not realizing it was 5 spd yet.) when it actually started (YES IT WAS 5 SPD!! I DID NOT APPLY CLUTCH~!!) The car shot forward into the busiest road in my town (6 lanes all together) and caused a slight disturbance.
HAS ANYONE OUT THERE HEARD OR EXPERIENCED SATURN VUE'S FAULTY CLUTCH (OR SAFETY FAILURE??)??
PLEASE SHARE IT WITH ME.
THANKS.
I just got a 2005 Saturn Vue AWD V6 with 92K miles on it. I only paid 7300 dollars for it and it's in good condition. I did put on about 3000 miles in the first month due to long road trips... it seems great so far, except that when I put the gas on lightly at certain speeds, it stutters. I hear lots of plastic creaking as I drive it, but so far so good. I'm going to see the dealership to see what the engine stutter is. Anyone have that same trouble?
I own a 2003 Vue 4 cyl/manual trans with 228K miles. To date, the only major problems I've had has been the clutch assembly, because of the slave cylinder failing, the driver side front axle assembly, and the ignition coil pack. This vehicle is, and has been very reliable, all of those miles have been hard driving as it was used, until recently, as a delivery vehicle. I would certainly recommend the Saturn Vue product line. My only complaint has been the high price of replacement parts.
I have owned a Saturn in the past and absolutely loved it. So when my hubby needed a new car, we bought a 2006 Saturn Vue, 4 cyl manual tranny from a Saturn dealer. We specifically bought the 2006 since we read such horror stories about the older models, and we specifically bought the manual first because we both LOVE driving stick, and we read tons of horror stories about the 6 cylinder auto Vues. We paid more than $10,000 for our vehicle and we bought an extended warranty.
First 2 months, loved the car!! On the 69th day after we bought it (this past Monday) the car died on the way home from work. Called the dealer and they sent a tow truck. Long story short, the slave cylinder failed, taking out the entire clutch at the same time, and of course none of it is covered by our extended warranty. Dealer said that since we only bought the car a bit over 2 months ago, they would split the bill with us. The manager claims they charged us their cost for the parts and didn't make any profit at all on the job. He claims after deducting the profit on both, they have split the balance with us. Our portion is still just about $1,000!! We are reeling! The car has been at the dealer since Monday night. It's supposed to be ready by noon time tomorrow. They said that the job would normally cost closer to $2400-$2500 for everything (slave cylinder, entirely new clutch including the flywheel).
Everyone has been very nice and has taken the time to walk through everything with me, but still, we bought the darn thing just a bit over 2 months ago and there's only 65,000+ miles on the vehicle. I hope and pray that this is the only major repair job we have to do on the car.
My '05 Vue also stutters when I accelerate, the engine light is on. What was the result from the dealer?
OK, so we got our car back on Saturday. On the way home, 3rd gear was grinding on the downshift. So back to the dealer today. They say that the syncronizing gear is shot. At least this one was covered by our extended warranty. They got me a rental car and sent me on my way. Apparently they'll have my Vue there for a while longer. GRRR. $100 deductible. But I have to say that they really took care of us with the repair I talked about in my above post. I expected to pay $1200 out of pocket and only paid $900 out of pocket. Let's see what happens now when we get it back!
I've got an 05 Vue with some of the same problems mentioned above. It creaks a lot when I turn corners, rattles like something is going to fall off when I hit a bump, and now the drl lights won't work. I've never had a problem with the car, but all of the sudden I've had some problems and am afraid what could be the cause and how expensive this will be to fix! I had been leasing the vehicle and just purchased it almost a year ago. Any suggestions?
