The windshield issue is true. I've just replaced mine on a new 2008 xb. No, Toyota didn't fix this problem. They did, however, fix my windshield for free, after first refusing. I took it up with Scion customer service, who told Toyota to fix it ONCE in goodwill. In addition to the large crack, I had several HUNDRED minuscule chips all over the windshield. All highway mileage, though. I doubt this would happen to someone driving in the city all day.

The windshield crack is an obvious design flaw. The aerodynamics of a normal car give it the ability to deflect most small rocks off the windshield with little damage. The xB's windshield is nearly vertical. If a rock hits it, it's dead on, not on a slant like a regular car. I'm a Toyota fan myself, but the Scion line-up is a joke. The only good thing about a Scion is the fact that the engine will last while the poorly designed body falls off around it. What was Toyota thinking when they developed Scion? Toyota should stick with it's Corolla's and Camry's, those are the good cars.
