1998 Seat Cordoba Vario SXE review from UK and Ireland
"A practical economical and reliable car"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Battery needed replacement; this was done under warranty.
General comments?
The Vario is hugely practical car, it is only slightly bigger than a Polo, (which makes it easy to drive around town and park) while still having loads of boot space, a huge amount with the rear seats down.
The 1.9 TDi engine is superb, both economical and powerful. Even though the engine has only 90bhp,(the Vario is quite a small car) the engine has a lot of torque, providing effortless acceleration even when carrying a full load of passengers and luggage.
It really excels on the motorway,(where high gearing provides low noise and good economy) and still retains excellent performance. Around town, the engine can sound a bit noisy, but it's never unpleasant.
Because the engine is so thermally efficient, it takes the heater quite a few minutes to deliver heat, this is a minor drawback.
Reliability has been superb and servicing costs low.
