This model has been letting in water through the two front doors, probably since the car was 3 years old, but it never got too bad until the continuous rain. It has flooded my whole back seat foot area to one inch of water. It is also impossible to dry it out as the carpets are secure.
WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT THIS SERIOUS PROBLEM?

This is a good driving car and very comfortable.
Has a quiet engine. I actually love this car, but the damp smell due to the leaking doors is terrible.
I had the same problem on my passenger side - although the plates used on the doors are excellent (not just glued in poly/plastic stuff) the weakness is the seal itself. As they age they start to dry out and crumble. The door plate will need to be removed and seal replaced. Then comes the hard part - drying out the carpet - this took me weeks. I had to remove all the trim and the passenger seat and then gradually dry it out. I suppose it would have been easier to replace the carpet. If in doubt that it is the seals you can double check that they are leaking by opening the door and pouring a jug of water slowly and evenly onto the window. If it is leaking some of the water will appear from between the plastic trim and the door itself. Hope that helps.
