2004 Skoda Fabia vRS from UK and Ireland - Comments

"Still a rare sight on the road/ good to be different"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Loose door hindge bolt, quickly dealt with by dealer.

Tyre blew at with 80 miles on clock after I ran over a large object on motorway £122 to replace (at dealer).

General comments?

Good car to drive, a lot cheaper to run than the octavia vrs I owned previous and still plenty of performance.

0 to 60 time well under what is claimed and six gear is stunning, so few revs for the speed.

Superb looking seats, but dash is plain in comparison, a bit more style to the dash would have been nice.

The front and rear of the car look really sporty, my only gripe is that it could have been lowered on the suspension.

The power in second third fouth really shows other cars what there missing (when youve passed them)

Skoda Fabia VRs. Having recently had my VRs tuned to a whooping 175 bhp. The guy at Well Lane tuning tested my VRs as standard and the 0-60 time was clocked at 8.29seconds he also added the cars a sheep in wolfs clothing.. Rock on VRs.

Today, I have taken delivery of a Fabia VRS.

Unitl March of last year I had a Civic Type-R, but had to sell it due to my wife getting a company car.

The Fabia is wonderful! It's not as fast as the Civic and there is no doubt that given a smooth and dry B road the Civic would leave the Fabia well behind.

However, to get the best from the Civic was hard work. The car was noisy, very hard riding and, at times, downright unpleasant.

By contrast, the Fabia has all the performance you need in the real world, is quieter, more comfortable and better equiped. It is a very much more mature car.

Dial in excellant economy and an image that sits between the twee image of the Mini, and the macho image of the Civic and this car really does emerge as being rather special!

It's lovely to drive. It can be a performance car, an economy car or a small, but very impressive luxury car.

Everyone has admired it and the fact that it's a Skoda seems to work to it's advantage!

A bargain and surely one of the best cars currently on sale.

I have specified my car with Xenon lights which are well worth the extra cost.

Just a couple of gripes. The electric sunroof has a pretty miserably small opening and,all things considered, I would have thought that electric rear windows would have at least been available as an option.

However, overall, in over 30 years of motoring I don't think I have ever been as satisfied by a new car as I have by the VRS!

Reccommended!

To the owner of the vrs tuned at well lane, how much has the car improved ie 0-60 time and max speed now its been tuned.

I am thinking of having an obd tuning box for mine which will give 172bhp and 50lbs of torque.

Also I want to lower the car, but cannot find a way to do this and keep my warranty any ideas?

Hello.

I had a test drive in the VRS on friday and was very impressed with its performance. Infact, having not driven a diesel in a few years I was amazed. Not sure how keen I was with the seat colours. The cream coloured trim looks a bit to bright and would soon look dirty. But overall the car seems too good to be true. Has anyone bought there VRS through a UK broker, and what sort of offer did you get, and would you recommend them?

Cheers

Steve.

I too have ordered one of these rockets. I went out on Saturday to buy a 1.2 Classic - Five hours later bought a VRS! I would add that I have been looking for weeks and had test driven two previously. I should be picking it up on Saturday - will let you know how it performs.

Am currently contemplating getting a Fabia VRS as my next company car - however, I am struggling to get any information on available satellite navigation option (s). I have been quoted a lease figure (including sat nav) but am wondering whether the sat nav (+ TV tuner) supplied as an option with Audi/VW is available with this car.

PLEASE HELP ME.

I've had Fabia VRS about a month now, and driven almost 2500 miles.

When new the only problem was the washer fluid level sensor was faulty, causing the dashboard warning to stay on all the time. This was dealt with the dealer right away they have ordered a new part - I just need to get back in there to get it fitted!! No time at weekends now too busy driving the Fabia!

Nothing to complain about although worried about the light interior. It looks great just now, but I'm a messy person so it won't be long before I make a mess of it - even worse when the kids get in there!

In reply to the comment about the small sunroof opening - I had thought this at first as well - but only just recently discovered that by turning the opening dial a bit further than what appears to be the widest setting - the sunroof can be opened to the full size of the hole in the roof!

I'm still very happy with the way the car performs, and with the gadgets inside as well. I've had a few folk sitting in the back saying theres plenty of room there too. Getting fuel economy of approx 49 mpg on the motorway, but consider myself to be an 'enthusiastic' driver, I know I could get 60mpg when not in a hurry.

Have had my fabia vrs for over a year now. It is definitely the best car I have owned. Had a new mini previously, but had so many problems with it that I couldn't wait to get rid. the skoda feels much faster and the mpg unbelievable. Had no problems except for a funny noise from the brakes every so often when moving slowly. Dealer says it's common and will get back to me when Skoda get back to him.

Otherwise, fantastic. Would recommend to anyone who enjoys driving and is on a budget.
