"Fantastic Car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car smokes quite a bit and the gearing is out according to the manufacturer.

General comments?

Well what a fantastic car. I have had my Black Vrs for 3 months now and I can defniatly say it is by far the best car that I have ever owned.

I bought the car through a company called Drive the deal. com and saved a massive amount on the purchase price. I would recommend getting a few extras eg, Cruise control, xenon headlights with the washers and a sun roof.

The only thing that I would say is, check your mph per thousand. In sixth gear it should be between 35-37 mph in sixth gear at 1000rpm if it is lower than that I would contact your dealer.

Now that my car has done a few thousand miles I am thinking of having it chipped, so if anyone out there can recomend a good chip I would be grateful.

About the gearing, older vRS models had different ratios which meant lower RPM's in the higher gears. The newer ones share the same box as Golf GT TDI's, and has shorter gearing. The older ones do about 1900 rpm at 70 and the newer ones just over 2100 rpm at 70, both in 6th.
