1979 Skoda Rapid 110R review from UK and Ireland
"The onle and only classic Skoda"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
All the rubber brake hoses (front & rear), don't seem to last too long.
Choke cable seizes - remove and oil well. Same goes for the throttle cable. Make sure they are routed correctly and oil well.
If the throttle pedal doesnt feel silky smooth - see above !!!!!
Alternator packed up - got a reconditioned one of heavier capacity - this also sorted the starting problem from cold - as it charged the battery properly.
Interior mirror used to fall off the screen regularly - eventually I bolted it to the top of the dash!
General comments?
If you ever wanted to drive a Porsche, but couldnt afford to get one - buy a skoda Rapid 110R instead.
It's got the characteristic Porsche handling - i.e. The back end lets go really easy, and it's very difficult to get back into line.
Great fun to drive. Buy one.
Wish I never sold it - it's the only 'collecable' Skoda.
An absolute classic.
