2005 smart fortwo - city coupe Pulse CDI Cabriolet review from North America
"Excellent!"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Driver's side electric mirror replaced under warranty due to vibration.
Passenger side seatbelt replaced under warranty due to faulty inertia reel.
Neoprene seal in intake pipe replaced owing to poor factory fittment (warranty).
General comments?
Fitted with strikeline wide wheels and 175/195 front/rear tires. Car handles very well on these.
Fuel economy is amazing. Getting under 60 MPG is nearly impossible. Lifetime average over 53,000 km is 3.85 L/100 km (73 MPG).
Seats are amazingly comfortable, and the heaters in them make them even moreso.
Convertible top is well engineered and makes the car a total joy to drive.
Shifter paddles on the steering wheel are excellent.
Acceleration is modest, mainly due to excessive gearshifting being necessary at lower speeds, but speed in gear is fine.
Highly recommended to those seeking a low-impact car with character and comfort.
