1999 Subaru Forester L review from North America
"Fantastic and reliable - 136,000 miles and only fairly typical problems"
What things have gone wrong with the car?
Car was hit hard in 2000 with 35000 miles on it. Dealer replaced windshield, and entire right side panel set. (not my fault)
Rear Wheel bearings have both failed one at 70,000 - one at 130,000.
Engine light came on at 60K - turns out the Jiffy Lube left my air cleaner cover ajar.
Stock Tires gave out at 30K. Michelins have lasted much longer. Frequent Rotation is suggested.
Rear left shock failed at 130,000 miles
will replace with KYB assemblys.
General comments?
FANTASTIC car! I have had so little trouble that I highly recommend this car.
Commuted 100 miles per day for 3 years and used dirt roads frequently.
Dealers have not proven overly helpful and warranty was typical, but not good.
Handles dirt roads like a dream.
